I reluctantly stopped by the Dunkin Doughnuts on the way to work on Monday. I have a standing bet with a co-worker on the Packer/Bear games and owed him a dozen doughnuts. He was pretty quiet during the time that the Pack dominated, but has been chirping quite a bit lately ever since Walter Payton lifted Brian Robinson up to block the game winning field goal last year at Lambeau. I took my medicine and dropped them off in his office and retreated to my office to the comfort of way too much work and to little time.
What can I say other than that they were not ready play. Maybe it was the injury to Garry Berry on the opening kickoff or maybe the thought of playing a 0 - 4 team. The Bears had everything to gain and nothing to lose. If they would have lost they would have been 0 - 4 in the division 5 games into the season. The Packers mounted a gallant comeback and again too many dropped balls. Has anyone else noted that the Packers left tackle Mike Wahle gives up too many sacks?
They have a tough one in Detroit this weekend without a banged up Dorsey Levens. Maybe Ahman Green can carry the load and hold onto the football. Well a fan can dream.
One final note. I stopped by my co-workers office before I left today to let him know the final score of the White Sox/Mariners game. Thank god for small victories.
