This week the Packers travel to Detroit, the place of many horrendous games. From a non partial view, it looks like the Packers should get pounded. I can see the Packers rookie guards getting abused by Detroit's Shaun Rogers. I can see at least 4 false start penalties against the Packers due to crowd noise. I can vision the Packers continue with their conservative game plans. I also can vision Brett losing his patience with dumping it off and throwing 3 interceptions. Considering these images you would figure the Lions to win 34-10 or close to it. I just have a "gut feeling" the Packers will play well and WIN! I have not lost my mind, nor am I having a few cold ones while writing this. First off, the Lions new offense has its share of problems. They actually look just as bad as the Packer's offense over the past two games. The starting offensive tackles for the Lions are hurting, so Aaron Kampman will continue on his Pro Bowl pace. Greg Jennings and Brett Favre have not been in sync so far, this will change this week. Detroit should double and possibly triple cover Donald Driver; this will open things up for Jennings. First round pick A.J. Hawk is close to having a breakout game, this might be it? Last but not least, the Packers team speed will show up on the turf! From what scouts and coaches have said "the Packers have a lot of team speed" if this is true, it will show this week.
Now for reality, the Packers look like they are running in quicksand at Lambeau. It has been especially noticeable on special teams, the wedge players are basically statues. How can you play on your home field and the players lose their footing? Nick Collins looked like he was on a sheet of ice while giving up a touchdown against the Saints. He was in perfect position to make a play, but lost his footing! Don't they know the length of cleat to wear, I mean it is Lambeau! I think it is time that the veterans start playing like veterans! Tauscher, Clifton, Franks, K.G.B, Ahman, Barnett, and Favre need to play like solid veteran football players. False starts, holding penalties, fumbles, disappearing acts, dropped passes and interceptions are killing the Packers. This should be totally unacceptable under Mike McCarthy; this was acceptable under Mike Sherman, that's why he's no longer here!
Until next time, STAY SAFE!
