Hello again fellow Packer fans! Well another training camp is right around the corner and it looks like Green Bay will have yet another unhappy camper.
Al Harris is following in the footsteps of Mike McKenzie and Javon Walker beefing about his contract. Says he's unhappy that free agent DB Charles Woodson is getting more money than him. Says he might even holdout of training camp (sound familiar?).
Well Al, let's look at a few facts about you and Woodson. Woodson won the Heisman trophy and was a first round pick out of college. Were you? NO. Woodson has been a two time Pro Bowler. Were you? No, you were a two time Pro Bowl ALTERNATE! Woodson can and WANTS to return punts and kicks. Do you? Never heard you mention that. Woodson even wants to play on the offense like he did in Oakland! Did you ever express such an interest? Not to my recolllection.
Do you remember why McKenzie left? Let me refresh your memory. Because you signed a big contract that paid YOU more than HIM!! Here's a hard fast lesson on life in pro sports: SOMEONE WILL ALWAYS GET MORE MONEY THAN THE LAST BIG CONTRACT! It's a fact of life in pro sports. As soon as you get what you think you want, someone else comes along and gets more.
If every player on every pro sports team pitched a fit everytime he thinks he's being dissed there wouldn't be ANY pro sports left because the average fan , who pays the bills by the way, couldn't afford the tickets, refreshments, souveniers and parking anymore.
I have a challenge for you, try living on the average blue-collar salary for 2 weeks and then tell me how hard you got it!! No fancy cars. No bling. No big fancy house. No Cristal for your posse, just trying to make ends meet. Maybe all of the Prima Donnas out there who think they're unappreciated and underpaid should take that challenge. If the average Blue-Collar worker told his boss "I'm not coming back to work until you pay me more" what do you think would happen? He'd be on the outside looking in. But because fans put pro athletes on an undeserved pedestal they can get away with it. Until the average fan raises up and says "that's it, no more", the cycle will continue.
Until next time Packer fans, SEEEEE YAAAA!!!!!!!
