The Pack-Like It Is

It’s the same old song

The Packers continued making mistakes this past Sunday, losing to Tampa Bay 17-16. This marked the first time Brett Favre has lost in Green Bay to the Bucs. The home field advantage is a thing of the past for the Packers. Gone are the wins before the Packer faithful, instead they are replaced by hard to watch football. Penalties and turnovers are just out of control; it’s basically the same as previous games. The Packers do have a young team, so I guess mistakes will happen. I can forget about a young corner getting burned, but mistakes by the veterans are inexcusable! Rob Davis has a bad snap on a missed extra point. Ryan Longwell misses a field goal he could make in his sleep; William Henderson fumbles while the Packers were moving the ball. These mistakes should not happen by veteran players, at least not all in the same game!

Now for our quarterback, what is he thinking? He is totally wreckless with the football, more so now than in his younger days. Favre threw 3 interceptions and he easily could have had five in the game. He throws passes “up for grabs” constantly hoping his receiver comes down with the ball. I can’t remember seeing Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Joe Montana doing that. Brett is looking older and older each week and it’s getting sad. He is starting to remind me of a washed up fighter that hangs around looking for one last payday.

As much as I can’t understand Favre’s decisions, there is another question that comes to mind. How in the name of Vince Lombardi do they give Mike Sherman a two-year contract extension? I am hoping it was not to have a “lame duck” coach during the season. If that was the reasoning behind it, what’s the difference? If the mistakes continue, there is a bright side to all of this. Favre will retire, Sherman will be fired, and the Packers will have a shot of drafting Reggie Bush with their number one draft pick.

Until next time, STAY SAFE!
