I thought I would take a couple days to cool off and take a long look at what is going on with the Packers. I have noticed that Favre makes the same dumb mistakes week in and week out and it is o.k. because he is Brett Favre. The writers for the Green Bay Press Gazette and the Milwaukee Journal have not gotten on Favre over the past couple days. I can understand his mind being elsewhere due to the recent misfurtunes in his life, but the mistakes have been going on since Holmgren left for Seattle. In last week’s game against the Browns, he made some brutal mistakes. He lofted an under thrown interception in the Browns end zone, while he had William Henderson wide open. He used a “side arm flip” on a rollout to Robert Ferguson, who wasn’t even looking at him. He didn’t even bother to look at the open tight end ten yards in front of him, nor did he even think about running. The bottom line is that he’s not prepared, by his own admission he has daydreamed in meetings. If I made that many mistakes at my job, I wouldn't have a job!
The other thing that has occurred to me is that his consecutive game streak has hurt and will continue to hurt the Packers. I’ll be the first to admit that he’s the toughest of the tough, but sometimes the team has to come first. I am referring to those games with his broken thumb, remember the turnovers? If the bottom falls out on the Packers and they are 1-5, we are not going to see Aaron Rodgers due to the streak. We are going to see 36 year old Brett Favre instead of seeing the future of the Packers. There is no way Mike Sherman will bench him; he doesn’t even get on him about the turnovers. I have yet to see Sherman rip into Favre, probably because Sherman looks totally lost most of the time! By no way am I blaming Favre entirely for the Packers losing. The Packers have a lot of problems right now, but I am just getting sick of his shabby play. When Favre throws for 300 plus yards there are usually some turnovers with it.
In many of Brett’s interviews he claims when he can no longer play at a high level, it will be time to hang it up. I think he should take a look at his recent playoff performances and the first two games of this year and reconsider. I guess when you are considered “ a god”; not too many people will tell you the truth. He might turn it around and have 2 or 3 great games in a row. Don’t believe the hype, the turnovers will be back! Am I the only Packerbacker that feels this way? I want to hear some opinions from the Packer Nation!
Until next time, STAY SAFE!
