The Packers offense is running like a well oiled machine, a Green Machine that is! The offensive line has been nothing short of superb in both pass and run blocking. Brett Favre has only been sacked 5 times, 3 short of tying the record set by the Dolphins. I do have to give credit to the play calling of Coach Sherman; he’s doing a great job of mixing run and pass. The Packers 45 – 17 victory was their 6th in a row keeping them in first place in the N.F.C. North. It seems the only thing that can stop this offense is a dropped pass or a penalty, hopefully it will stay that way. On the other side of the ball, the Packers need to make some adjustments. In week two the Packers were torched by the Bears using short crossing patterns, they still can’t stop them! Mark Bulger threw for over four hundred yards using crossing patterns and slants, the Packers need to get better in this area. Also the pass rush has not been good at all, maybe trying some stunts with the lineman could help? Due to the lack of pass rush the Packers blitz with bad results, they do a terrible job disguising the pressure. Often they show blitz too soon, making it easy for the opposition to adjust their blocking and pass routes. They have to do a better job timing their blitzing or every game will be a tough one for the Packers to win. Speaking of tough games, next for the Packers are the Eagles. We will get a good idea how good the Packers are this Sunday. So far the Packers have only beat one team with a winning record, the Vikings are that team with a 7-4 record. GO PACK! Until next time, STAY SAFE!
