I hate to say I told you so... :-)
3 weeks ago, Packer fans from throughout the country gave up on the team. Flat gave up. There was talk of firing Sherman, getting rid of players, a complete overhaul. 3 weeks later, after the upcoming bye, we could have the opportunity to take the Division lead when the Vikings come into Lambeau. And back on the bandwagon go the unfaithful.
Do I sound a little cold? It''''s deserved. Up and down, I talked to no one, and saw no article that gave our Pack a glimmer of hope for the rest of the season. The always skeptical, devil''''s advocate, negative Green Bay press were having a field day. The ridiculous banter of Brett''''s retirement was spurred with little to no substinance. I know the team lost 4 straight. I know they had a swiss cheese defense. But like I said in my article 3 weeks ago (check it out, if you must) @ Detroit, Dallas, and @ Washington were still 3 very winable games. And guess what...the coach who''''s head everyone was calling for challenged his team player by player, and challenged himself as a play caller. The result? Over 100 points in 3 games, a defense that is gelling, and getting healthy (Sharper and Navies now have time to rest), and a top 5 Offense in the league.
We haven''''t had a losing season since 1991. I know expectations are always high, and they belong there. But you know what? Faith should also be as strong. Again, like I said in my article, Brett and this teams have given us too much in the last 12+ years for us not to have faith when the cards are stacked against us.
So enjoy the rest of the season!! 8 more wins to match those 91 Oilers!! We''''re all Colts fans this Monday, then bring on those Purple you-know-whats into Lambeau. It''''s the mid-way point, and I don''''t know if I could be enjoying and appreciating my team anymore. GO PACK GO!!!
