Packers sign DB Claude Rains

The pre-game shows on Fox and ESPN mentioned that the Packers will be without CB Mike McKenzie due to injury, but they failed to mention the Packers new DB. Claude Rains started in the Packer secondary and his presence was noticed on the Colts first five scoring drives. For those who are not familiar with the career of Claude Rains, let me fill you in. Claude played the lead role as Jack Griffin in the classic horror movie “The Invisible Man”. Claude provided deep help covering the Colt receivers Wayne, Harrison, and Stokely as they embarrased the Packer defense. I am trying to have a sense of humor writing about the Packers defense because it’s comical! On a serious note, the Packers coaching staff game decisions are pathetic. Defensive coordinator Bob Slowik waited until the second half to go to a “dime coverage”. What were Slowik and Sherman watching while the Colts recevers were running a track meet to the end zone? I know they couldn’t have played that coverage all game due to injuries, but you have to make adjustments. It seems every week Sherman makes terrible decisions. While the Colts are scoring touchdown after touchdown, Sherman decides a 52-yard field goal from Ryan Longwell would be a smart move. Regardless if the field goal was good or not, you can’t match touchdowns with field goals! Longwell’s attempt hits the cross bar and the missed field goal gives Peyton Manning the ball at the Colts 42-yard line. The Colts then added another touchdown on that drive. Coach Sherman’s decision showed no confidence at all in his offense, which moved the ball at will against the Colts defense. Didn’t he learn from his decision in last year’s playoff game against the Eagles? You remember Packerbackers; he punted on 4th and short in Eagle territory only to have Josh Bidwell kick it into the endzone! These decisions are basically football common sense; it’s not “rocket science”  Until next time, STAY SAFE!
