A draft with a message?

Hello fellow Packer fans!! I know it's been awhile but I was waiting until something really important came up. I think the draft, especially this draft qualifies.By drafting Arkansas DB Ahmad Carroll in the first round I think it sends a clear message to all involved with the team. First and foremost, if disgruntled DB Mike McKenzie gets his wish and is traded they have not only Carroll to step in but 3rd round pick Joey Thomas from Montana State as well.I can't understand McKenzie's reasoning for wanting to leave. I know it had a lot to do with position coach Lionel Washington not getting promoted. But if Washington isn't griping about it why should McKenzie? Mike, you have got to understand that this is a business. Right now this team STILL has enough talent to reach the playoffs and quite possibly win the division again. Do you really want to take a chance on getting traded to a non-contender? In order to get to the Super Bowl you have to make it to the playoffs first. Mike this team has gotten SO close to a championship in your time in Green Bay, do you really want to start all over? I must admit I was a little surprised that the Pack didn't take Gamble from Ohio State. Being in Wisconsin I had seen and heard all about him when the Buckeyes played the Badgers over his career in Columbus. But then again nobody knew that much about Nick Barnett last year and that turned out pretty Damned good. Once again the draft had a defensive bent. 4 out of 6 players drafted were for defense. 2 DB''''s and 2 defensive linemen.Mike Sherman wheeled and dealed all during the draft. Trading up here , dealing away late picks there. I think a lot of Ron Wolf rubbed of on Mike Sherman. And that my friends, is a good thing.

Now all Mike has to do is get QB Tim Couch into the fold and this could be the start of a VERY interesting year. Can you imagine that when Brett is ready to retire that the Pack could have a weapon like Couch ready to take over? Just think how much better Couch is going to get with a season or 2 learning the offense from Favre and Sherman. If I were on any of the other NFC North teams the thought of that would really keep me up nights.Well gang now all we can do is wait and see what unfolds between now and training camp. Don''''t forget that the annual Brett Favre charity softball game will be held in Appleton, WI. at Fox Cities stadium on Sunday June 6. Hope to meet and greet you there. Until next time my friends.......................SEEEEEEEEE YAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
