To say that the final week of the regular season was just a bit nerve wracking is like saying the Grand Canyon is a bit of a hole. Knowing their playoff furure was at stake the Packers busted the Broncos 31-3 on the legs of Ahman Green who had 218 yards on 20 carries and 1 td. Plus the D bent but didn't break and snuffed out every Denver td drive including 2 very big 4th and goals. The one that was especially pleasing was the 1st one that led to Green's 98 yd td run to break the game open. Then the special teams finally came through and caused a fumble on the next kickoff that was recovered by Marcus Wilkins for the 2nd td in 8 seconds that sealed this game.Brett Favre had a bit of a let down from last week but that could almost have been expected. Brett has been riding an emotional roller coaster for the past week. The fact that Ahman stepped up and shouldered the load today proves that he too is a leader on this offense.
AND .....HOW 'BOUT THEM CARDINALS!!!!!!!!!!! Scoring 2 tds in the final 2 minutes to smash the playoff dreams of the Vikings 18-17.The final play that sealed it was an amazing pass on the run by Cards qb Josh McCown that left all of us waiting on the edge of our seats until the replay booth confirmed it as a td. Considering how fast Minnesota took off this year you wouldn't have thought they would have had to sweat out the last week of the season. It's still amazing that they actually lost this game when it appeared the NFC North crown was theirs for the taking. You have to wonder what is going through owner Red McCombs mind right now. Was it head coach Mike Tice's fault? Did his players just get too cocky ? What about Red's little tirade after the Vikes lost their 1st game of the season ? From what I can see this team is in disarray. Maybe they thought that the hot start meant they could coast into the post-season. No matter what the reason, it could be a very interesting off-season in Minnesota.
Now it's onto the Wild Card Weekend with a Sunday date with Mike Holmgren's Seattle Seahawks. Coach Holmgren has never lost a playoff game at Lambeau. Hopefully that will change this week. Until next week gang.............SEE YA!!!!!!!!!
