Shaky start but fast recovery to down Bears

After seeing Chicago start off the game with 14 1st quarter points you would have thought that it was curtains for the Pack but, they roared back to score a 34-21 victory over Da Bears. If you take away the interception for a td and the 88 yd kick-off return you can see that this game was dominated by the defense. After being burned on the 61 yd td to Marty Booker, Mike McKenzie turned in a solid game with sure handed tackles and 2 very big picks that included one being returned 90 yds for a td. The D-line was awesome defending the run holding Chicago to 44 yds on 20 attempts. The unsung hero on the line today in my opinion was Aaron Kampman. He made some monsterous tackles and had decent penetration all day. Grady Jackson had another solid game especially in the 4th with 4th and 10 and yanking Kordell Stewart down at the Bear 1 yd line to sew up the game. The offense wasn't spectacular but just good enough to send Chicago back to the Windy City knowing their play-off hopes were all but over.Favre was 22 of 33 for 210 yds, 1 td and that pick. On 3rd and 3 on Green Bay's 1st FG I thought Brett could have run for the first down and maybe even a td but instead tossed a pass to Wesley Walls that was knocked away. Ahman Green had another sub-par game gaining only 80 yds on 30 carries leaving him 13 yds short of breaking Jim Taylor's single season rushing record.

The reason Chicago was as close as they were was poor play on the Packers special teams. On Azumah's td there was no contain and when they could have stopped him deep in Packer territory Swinney knocked Fuller off to let him score. This has got to stop. This team needs to be extremely more consistent if it wants to play past Dec.28. The offense line was not up to par again this week with untimely false start and holding penalties for the 2nd straight week. And the run blocking was just as bad. This unit has got to put it all together now or they will be home WATCHING the play-offs. Now it's on to the West Coast for the next 2 games against San Diego and Oakland. These 2 games are "must" wins for the Pack before they face Denver at Lambeau on the 28th. Until next week Packer fans...............................SEE YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
