It has been almost year since Warren Sapp’s cheap but deemed legal hit on Chad Clifton. Clifton was carted off the field with a separated pelvis that sent him in the hospital for days, bedridden for weeks, and that took months of rehab to heal. Clifton took the high road this week pledging that there would be no vengeance against the confident and mouthy Warren Sapp. Chiffon never disputed the hit then and now. Sapp who is rarely without something to say , never has talked to Clifton even to wish him well. After today’s game, Sapp still has nothing to talk about. The Packer’s offense line including Chad Clifton spoke today on the field not with their mouths.
Excuse me Mr. Sapp. Did you say something?
Brett Favre went into the game today with a 0-5 career record in Tampa at Raymond James Stadium. It was not Farve’s arm but Farve’s leadership that led to the Packers to victory. His presence was one of the keys to this victory. With this victory, Favre passes Johnny Unitas to fourth all-time on wins for a quarterback in the NFL. Another key was the Packer offense line which allowed Ahman Green (109 yards – no fumbles), Najeh Davenport(70 yards) and Tony Fisher(11 yards) to gallop through the heart of the Tampa defense. The offense line also kept Simeon Rice and Warren “It’s all about me!” Sapp in-check by not allowing a single sack on Brett Favre. This feat stopped the Tampa Bay league-record streak of 69 games in a row with at least one sack. The key to Packers being successful in the upcoming games against San Francisco, Detroit, and Chicago will be control of the line of scrimmage. The Packers rushing attack is the main offensive weapon. The Packers rushing offense is number 1 in the NFL with 5.5 yards per carry average, and number 2 behind Baltimore in the AFC for total rushing yards. This is just like the Lombardi days when the Packers ran the ball down their opponent’s throats. The Packers ran the ball down the Buccaneers throats today.
Warren, are you still there man?
The Packers 20 -13 victory, combined with the Vikings 28-18 loss to the Oakland Raiders, put the Packers 5-5 only one game behind the sliding Minnesota Vikings. After the fast start by Vikings early on in the season, it looked like they would run away with the NFC North division like the Packers did last year. It is amazing how things change at mid-season. The Packers still have some work to do. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Packers had three sacks (KGB, Hunt, Larry Smith) by the defensive line. I like the other big guy in the middle number 75 Grady Jackson. He is turning out to be a great addition to the Packers defensive line with his push up the middle. Warren Sapp eat your heart out!
The loss puts the defending Super Bowl championships Buccaneers four games behind the Carolina panthers in the NFC South with deteriorating hopes of a wild card berth.
Hello! Hello!!Warren are you still there? "Your lips are moving but I can’t hear what you are saying..."- Mr. Floyd
