Just when the season looked dismal, along come the Chicago Bears! The Packers got back on track with a 38-23 trouncing of the Chicago Bears at the new Soldier Field. Led by a great performance by Ahman Green the Packers got their offense going in the right direction. Green gained 176 yards and scored 2 touchdowns in the Packers victory. The Packers looked like a different team than the team that lost to Arizona a week ago. Everything was different, the offense had rhythm and the play calling was vastly improved. The defense had a good scheme by blitzing more often and the tackling was better also. The one area of improvement the Packers have made is on special teams. Their coverage and return game has improved greatly compared to years past. Against the Bears, the Marcus Wilkins blocked a punt! Yes that is not a miss-print, the Packers blocked a punt! They also faked a long field goal in which William Henderson almost made the first down. It was good to see the Packers being aggressive for a change, thanks coach Bonamego! John Bonamego is the Packers new special teams coach who has done a good job turning the special teams around. I am still trying to figure out what took so long for aggressive play calling by Rossley and Donatell? I am not going to get too excited over it though, they were playing the lowly Bears. The Packers have the Seahawks and the Chiefs up next at Lambeau. If they beat those teams, I will be impressed. There were two areas of concern for the Packers in the victory. It seemed in the third quarter the defense looked a bit tired. The other area of concern was at times Favre and the receivers didn’t look like they were on the same page? Hopefully that will be corrected against Seattle. We shall see next Sunday if this victory was a sign of betting better, or if the Bears were just that pathetic? Until next time, STAY SAFE!
