Hi Gang! Sorry I haven't written during the pre-season but my work schedule kept me from seeing all but the Hall Of Fame Game and that was a bit disappointing. But fear not, I have kept up on what is going on with America's REALTeam. ( Take that Tuna!)To say that what we saw is what we are going to get this season may not be the whole truth. Mike Sherman did what he had to do to get through the pre-season. Putting key players like Favre, Green and others at risk just to win meanningless exhibition games could have been disasterous.( Just ask Atlanta coach Dan Reeves). ButI have said this before and I will say it again, Mike Sherman let's you see what he wants you to see. A coach as inteligent as he is will not tip his hand before the real games start.Do I see problems? Maybe. There are a few questions on the overall quality of the back ups on defense. If Gilbert goes down , can Rod Walker take command of the middle of the line? Is our secondary ready to take on some of the more talented receivers in the league? Ithink so, at least I hope so.Are Tauscher and Clifton 100%? What about the status of Marco Rivera? Without a solid line Favre is going to take a beating and after what I saw of Pederson and Nall in the pre-season that scares me. Can Henderson hold on to his starting job or will new comer Nick Luchey eventually take his spot. All I know is what a read from all the so-called experts on who is going to win it all. They pick the Pack to win the NFC North but losing in the play-offs.( Which round depends on who you believe).
And it is with heavy heart that I bid Frank "Frankie Bag Of Doughnuts" Winters good-bye. Frank was a very integral part of the o-line for most of his 11 years in Green Bay. He always played his heart out week in and week out. But I have faith that some coach will snatch him up because there is still a fire to play in him that's not going to die of anytime soon. Good Luck Frank!!!!
Now onto the Viqueens. During the off-season Vikes pass rusher Chris Hovan told a reporter that he just couldn't wait for the first week against Green Bay. He said he keeps a Favre jersey in his locker for motivation.Excuse me Hovan but, isn't itenough to be paid very well to play motivation enough? Do you really need to focus so much on just one team or in thiscaseoneplayer that it consumes your entire being? when told of Hovan's remarks Favre said " I haven't given Hovan a second thought". Brett also said that Hovan needs to get a life. I still have zero comfidence in Culpepper as a leader
so I'll take the Pack
That's all for now fellow Packer fanatics. See ya after the first game.
