SouthEndZone.com’s Save Lambeau Campaign

The name “Lambeau Field” embodies all the great memories regarding the Green Bay Packer storied history. This was the setting where the Packer greats like Paul Hornung, Bart Starr, Ray Nitschke, Fuzzy Thurston, Mac McGee, Willie Wood, John Brockington, Lynn Dickey, James Lofton, Brett Farve, Sterling Sharpe and the greatest NFL coach of all time Vince Lombardi mastered the craft of professional NFL football. Lambeau Field is one of few NFL historical emblems left in the league. One of the main reasons many Packers fans are devoted this team is that this team personifies the history and legend of NFL football. Much of the legend was built in Lambeau field. In fact the Super Bowl trophy is named after a Packer coach who performed the magic in Lambeau Field.

I remember as kid growing up in Racine, Wisconsin. I first heard the name Lambeau Field and it put shivers down my spine. This name and all it stood for was the tradition of the NFL. The small market team called the Packers with their ever so compelling haven called “Lambeau Field” embodied the essence of NFL football. It is not the money but the discipline and will to win. Isn't this why the players play football? Over the years with the advent of free agency and inflated player salaries, the Packer organization has been able to compete successfully in the small town called Green Bay without sacrificing the legendary name of the field. Players like Brett Favre have restructured their salaries to keep their peers and continue to play in Lambeau. Reggie White turned down a higher offer from another franchise to play with the legendary Packers. Lambeau field is an important part of this legend.

I was surfing the net today and stopped by one of my favorite Packer fan web sites called http://www.southendzone.com. This is their 9th season on the web. Even before I created PackerIQ.com, I have periodically stopped the southendzone.com. I have always admired Scott Crevier not only for the site but for his philosophy and morals he exhibits in the way he runs his site. He is definitely one of the pioneers that influenced me while creating PackerIQ.com.

The southendzone.com is currently running the “Save Lambeau” campaign. This project was originated by a Columbus, Ohio Packer fan named Dave Palcsak. This is a effort to prevent a possible Lambeau Field name change. We need to help this cause. Please visit southendzone.com for more information, articles, and at the very least sign the online petition. Let’s show the decision-makers that the stadium needs to be called Lambeau Field. Recently, I have also added the ”Save Lambeau” links to PackerIQ.com in support of this effort.

Thanks my fellow Packer fans,
