This past Sunday the New York Jets gave the Packers a strong dose of reality by beating them 42-17. Good teams may get beat, but they do not get blown out in big games, the Packers simply are not a good team. It’s true the Packers were without Darren Sharper and Donald Driver for more than half of the game, their absence didn’t matter. Chad Pennington and the small Jets receivers made the plays and the Packers defense did not, it’s as simple as that. I’ve seen some bad tackling games in my lifetime; this ranks as one of the worst! Pennington threw short passes all game and the Packers couldn’t make the tackles. Mike McKenzie had by far the worst game of his career and McKenzie is usually a solid cornerback. You can chalk this game up to just a bad day, but their performance wasn’t bad, it was pathetic! This was similar to the Rams trouncing of the Pack in last years playoff, good teams don’t get blown out. Now the Packers will be facing the Falcons Saturday night at Lambeau field instead of having a week off. Another visit from Michael Vick is not what the Packers need right now. Just when I thought things couldn’t get worse, has anyone noticed what Matt Hasselbeck is doing in Seattle? He is turning into a solid N.F.L. quarterback! So much for the Packers stealing Ahman Green from Mike Holmgren. If Brett Favre retires, Holmgren stole the Packers future! It doesn’t look like Jamal Reynolds will turn into the second coming of Bruce Smith either. Until next time, STAY SAFE!
