Second half step up nips Vikes

The Packers stepped up the intensity in the second half to nip the Vikings 26-22 at a frozen Lambeau Field. Robert Ferguson and Brett Favre connected on two second half touchdowns to keep their home field chances alive. There also were a couple of nice catches by Donald Driver and Javon Walker who did their part to help in the victory. I think the key to the victory was a great tackle by Na’il Diggs. With a little more than four minutes left, 3rd & 16 the Vikings tried a double screen. They had it set up beautifully except for Diggs beating a double team to make the tackle, Great play Diggs! Favre showed why he still is the best in the game by driving the Packers for the winning touchdown. You almost could sense he willed the offense to victory; a great player can do that. One thing that seems evident is Brett’s dislike of some of the offensive play calling. With a first down deep in Viking territory the Packers tried a pitch to Fisher outside for a loss of three yards. Brett was exploding with frustration due to the conservative call. Field goals are never automatic, so you must always try for the touchdown. The one thing that I couldn’t understand was why did they try all game to run wide on smaller defense? It didn’t work all game, why did they think it would work then? I guess Sherman heard my screaming and ran from the I formation between the tackles for a 14-yard game-winning touchdown by Tony Fisher. The Vikings last play was a desperation pass that was intercepted by Darren Sharper. With time expired, Sharper decides to try and score instead of taking a knee and ending the game. The result of this ended up with cheap shots taken against Marques Anderson and Javon Walker getting stepped on. Use your head Darren! This just added more fuel to the rivalry in which I think is great, but the Packers can’t afford more injuries. Rivalries are great for the game, especially now with all the hugging and socializing with the other team after a loss. How can players be smiling after a loss? Most die-hard fans can’t sleep after a loss and these guys socialize like it’s a cocktail party! So some bad blood is good in this age of free agents as long as careers are not ruined by the bad blood! Until next time, stay safe!
