The battle of wits

The Packers-Bucs rivalry continues this Sunday, which has huge playoff implications. A Tampa Bay victory will give them the edge in the home field for the playoffs. Also it would give the Packers the losing end of a tiebreaker situation, not to mention they already lost to the Saints. This game will have all the intensity of a playoff match up! So much has been made of the Sapp-Favre rivalry, but I think this will be a strategic battle at it’s finest. This game will be won by the game plans supplied by the coaches. Jon Gruden and Mike Sherman are two of the elite coaches in the N.F.L. this should be some chess match between the two coaches. How will the Bucs offense attack the Packers defense? How will the Packers offense neutralize Warren Sapp & Derrick Brooks? I know it’s not certain if Tyrone Williams will be able to play due to a hamstring injury, but if I were Gruden, and Tyrone plays, I would focus my attack on him. I would throw slants to Keyshawn and throw some deep ones to Keenan McCardell at Williams’s expense. The quick slants to Keyshawn would help take K.G.B. and his speed rush out of the game. As far as the Packers are concerned, I would run right at Sapp and wear him down. Running right at Sapp would take away the two things he does best; rush the quarterback and pursuit of the running game. There is no better than Sapp and Derrick Brooks chasing from sideline to sideline, so go up the middle! Another way to attack the Bucs defense is by using some draw plays, something the Packers don’t use much of. The screen passes might not work due to the speed of the Tampa defense; you are not going to fool them too often with screens. I can’t wait for this one! Until next time, STAY SAFE!
