In my last article I begged for Antuan Edwards to be benched, but not because of an injury. My request will be granted this week and Matt Bowen will be starting instead of Antuan Edwards. It appears Edwards will be out 3-4 due to an injured arm. Last week against the Lions, Edwards had another terrible game! Lamont Warren burned him for a touchdown; Lamar is not what you would call a “speed merchant” either. Now all we need is for Hardy Nickerson to find the “fountain of youth”. Hardy has looked slow and old in the first three games. It appears that Torrance Marshall is not ready to start at middle linebacker, so Hardy has to play better or the defense will remain in serious trouble. The Packers have inserted Marshall at the fullback position due to an injury to William Henderson. Who knows, maybe the Packers have found a use for Marshall besides special teams? Vonnie Holliday will be out for at least 6-8 weeks due to an injured pectoral muscle, rookie Aaron Kampman will see time in Vonnie’s position. I don’t think I have ever seen Brett Favre play this consistent and smart. Due to the “cover two” (safeties taking the deep coverage) Brett has taken what the defense is giving him and he is having success! For the most part his passes have been very accurate also, Keep it up #4. Najeh Davenport has been extremely impressive; I think the Packers have got something with this guy! Davenport is listed close to 250lbs. and has a very fast burst for someone that size; just wait until he knows the system better. It seems every week it’s the same thing, special teams are terrible! Did you ever notice when the Packers field a punt, our return man is surrounded. When they cover a punt, the punt return man has the first 5 yards to himself. This is just inexcusable! Until next time, stay safe!
