Pack escapes Lion's den

To say the 37-31 victory by Green Bay was predictable would be kind considering it took everything they had just to survive this game. The Lions really took it to the Pack. But before I give them too much credit let's put this game in perspective.A trick play on a punt results in a 72 yd td. 3 turnovers and numerous dropped passes killed a number of drives. At times the Pack looked brilliant and at other times like a football version of the Keystone Kops! I mean where was the coverage on the 39 yd td pass to Warren? Where was Antaun Edwards? Answer: watching the play develop before he realized it was his responsibility to cover the wide open receiver!! If Edwards can't keep his mind on the game then maybe it's time to start Matt Bowen or rookie Marcus Anderson who had a great game.Anderson had a 78 yd td on his first NFL pick and recoverd a fumble.Bowen made some nice tackles and from what I could see never let his man beat him deep. Then there was the 52 yd td on a screen pass . WHERE WAS THE TACKLING!!!!Add in Diggs' pass interference penalty in the end zone. The defense looked a lot better most of the game.4 interceptions and a fumble recovery looks good in the stats. But it is the afore mentioned mistakes that kept Detroit in the game. I saw something today that I haven't seen in a long time. Brett Favre was downright ANGRY with his offensive teamates. The protection was average most of the game but too many times Favre had to hurry his throws and took too many shots from the Lion's defense.Too many dropped balls especially from Javon Walker. Walker looked outstanding in his first game but in the last 2 games he seems a bit tentative. I thought I noticed that happening during the Saints game when he took a tremendous shot on an over the middle route.Could be that since then Javon has been hearing footsteps. This is the Big Time Javon.Things like that are going to happen. A tip of the hat to Najeh Davenport who played a very good game filling in for the injured Ahman Green. And one more thing, I really like Ford Field. It is such a step up from the Silverdome. Now it's back home to face a very surprising Carolina Panthers team. Hopefully everyone will put their press clippings down and start playing the way they did in pre-season and get it together or the Packers could very well be 2-2 when they face Da Bears. I hope all of you have a great week. See ya next time.
