I know many Packer Backers are hitting the panic button and losing faith in their team. I am close to doing so myself, but it’s only two games into the season. I am fully aware the Packers should be 0-2. I am aware that the defense doesn’t have a clue at times. I am also aware that there is no pass rush at all. This week’s opponent is the Detroit Lions, just in time! If they play terrible against the Lions, then by all means, panic! Looking back at the first two games it is obvious the Pack is missing Leroy Butler. I am not saying Leroy would be the player he once was, but he would provide the Pack with two things they are missing. The first thing would be leadership to a defense that lacks intensity! The last and most important thing, he would be making the defensive calls. Antuan Edwards is totally lost, in fairness to him; he has only played 2 games at the position. My suggestion would be to move Matt Bowen to strong safety and start him instead of Edwards. If that is not an option, give Marques Anderson the job, Edwards is not the answer. He has been a bust since he was drafted and still is a bust. The defense is in need of more experience in that position, Bowen fits the description. There are just too many blown coverages to not to justify a change. I believe the change is necessary because it should help the pass rush by blitzing a little more. Knowing it has some stability in their secondary should help their blitz packages. I don’t know if it is my eyesight or does Hardy Nickerson look “over the hill”? I know his stats might not look too bad, but many of his tackles have been after good gains by the opposition. So hopefully the Lions will be just what the Pack needs, if not, then by all means panic! Until next time, stay safe!
