Terry Glenn is a Mistake

The Packers will announce the acquisition of Terry Glenn sometime today. I definitely do not agree with this decision. Though I think the Packers need to strengthen the wide receiver position, I do not think a troubled WR with a high price tag like Terry Glenn is the answer. On a positive note, the contract includes clauses based on moral and behavioral issues to protect the Packers against some of the type of behavior he has show in New England. Though he set a rookie record for receptions in 1996, he has only scored 22 touchdowns with 4669 yards in the 6 seasons. He has never shown the greatness of the 1996 season again. Last year Glenn missed most of the season because he violated the NFL substance abuse policy and is currently in phase 3 of his drug treatment program. Do the Packers really need a guy like this? I guess time will tell if this was a good decision by Mike Sherman.

Corner back and Kick returner Allen Rossum met with the Falcons this week and will meet with two unidentified teams soon. He brings a spark to the Packers and it looks like we might not be a Packer next year. I think he is more valuable to the Packer organization than the newly acquired Glenn ever will be. Since 1996, Glenn has never shown that he is a big play wide receiver.

Looks like other players are testing the free agent waters and looking to get out of Green Bay and get the big money. Wide receiver Corey Bradford has three visits scheduled, including one to Houston. Nose tackle Gilbert “the Grave Digger” Brown is supposed to visit New Orleans early this week. Mike Wahle, a young(24 years old) and athletic guard, is a free-agent who met with the 49ers this week probably will be gone.
