I said in my last article that a letdown was not acceptable if the Packers were going to be playing in the championship game. Well, call it what you want, but they were out played, out hustled, and also out coached. You can’t expect to play good for two weeks and then not care on the third week, which was the case this past Sunday. The Falcons clearly wanted this game more, and it showed from beginning to end. The defense for the Packers was pathetic at best, where was the pass rush? The Falcons offensive line was ready and well prepared. The Packer defensive line was horrible, to be blunt! The offense was no better; Bill Schroeder should give his paycheck back due to his lack of hustle. I really think he is much better suited to play with the Rams offense, speed and no toughness at all. How do you give up on plays while the quarterback is trying to make a play? I know you can make an argument that Favre should have done something else rather than try that last pass. But suppose Schroeder didn’t give up on the play? If he kept running he would have been there in time and would have had position on the defensive back. Longwell has struggled so who is to say he would have made a field goal anyway? So don’t lay all the blame on Favre for that one! Actually the problem with that play was that David Martin ran the wrong route, which caused Favre to go to Schroeder. That was not the primary play!
I am not even going to waste my time discussing Akins or McBride! Get rid of them both! So this week they head to Detroit on Thanksgiving, I really didn’t feel like eating good food that day anyway. I will be sick to my stomach with another performance like last week. The way it appears is that the Packers will make the playoffs, and if they are lucky, they might win one game. They appear to be two years away from a Super Bowl contender; Ferguson might be ready by then? You know what really bothers me about Schroeder; I would expect that from Freeman, but not him! Who knows maybe we will remember that we are allowed to throw passes to the tight end? Atlanta showed how valuable the tight end could be to move the chains. Sherman is an ex-tight ends coach and it boggles my mind how our tight ends are non-existent! I wish you all a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
