The Pack-Like It Is

Well after a week off the Packers can take their anger out on the Bucs this Sunday. This will be the last time the two teams will meet as divisional rivals due to the new alignment next year, so this game should be a good one. After an extra week to think about their poor performance against the Vikings, I really expect the Packers to play a great game on Sunday. Even though Butler and Schroeder are hurting, that should be no excuse because the Bucs have some injuries of their own. Keshawn and Jacquez Green are hurting, and they also will be without NT Anthony “Booger” McFarland, so no excuses this week. This is a big game for the Packers; they can’t afford to lose another game in their division, which would make their record 1-3 in the Central. Being that the Bears are their next game, a loss would really hurt the Packers hopes for winning the division. With some help from the Browns, there could be a tie for first place going into next week’s game against the Bears. C’MON BROWNS!

During the week off, I read some interesting articles in the Journal Sentinel. The first thing that annoyed me was the trade talk about Earl Dotson. I can fully understand wanting to always improve your team, but getting rid of Dotson would have been a mistake. Not only because of his value in case of injury, but Earl has dealt with lots of rehab and pain to continue his career. It was reported that he was told of the trade talks from Frank Winters, not by Mike Sherman, if that is accurate, that is terrible! After some players have took pay cuts to show their loyalty to the Packer organization, the management should show some loyalty of their own. The next thing that got me annoyed was an article about Tyrone Williams. In my opinion he is the second coming of Terrell Buckley when it comes to tackling, he is terrible! The article stated that Williams describes himself as a “cover corner” what kind of nonsense is that? Since when do players have an option of just covering and not tackling? And just for the record, his cover skills need help also! Someone should get him some films of Herb Adderly and “Night Train” Layne; “cover corner”…give me a break!

With that being said, I do think the defense will come close to pitching a shutout on Sunday. Williams will probably make some tackles and pick off some passes, just to make me look like an idiot! I think the best way to attack the Bucs defense is to run at them between the tackles. It might be nice to give Henderson a few runs to help wear them down up the middle. I think the Bucs defense is playing on reputation, not on desire, especially Sapp! Sapp is definitely a legend though, in his own mind of course. So until next time, stay safe and enjoy the Packer victory!
