"I was born and raise in New Mexico, but have lived the Corpus Christ, Tx since 1970. I became a Packer Fan sometime around 1959 or 1960 when the Packers was truly "America's Team". In my heart they will always be "America's Team. One thing that I have noticed throughout the years is that even non-Packer fans, respect the Packers. I purchased stock in the Packers in 1997 so I can tell everyone that I am a "Team Owner". I do own a autograph football sign by Ray Nitschke among many other items. When someone enters my home or office, there is no doubt what team for which I am a fan.
One of my goals to to take in at least one game at Lambeau Field, hopefully when it is very cold. I have been playing PackerIQ for several years and have been near the top many times, but this is the first time I have finished in the money. I want thank the people behind the scenes at Packer IQ for hard work each year. I'm looking forward to the 2007 season. GO PACKERS!!!" -Ron Packer Taylor, Corpus Christ, Tx

Going into the playoff games this season, jmacgown held what appeared to be an insurmountable lead that no one could catch, but techno_mom still hung there. "I'm from Saginaw, Michigan. I've been playing the NFL picks contest for 3 or 4 years; I don't remember exactly when I started. I found it through an internet search. I am not a Packers fan - living 100 miles from Detroit, I'm a Lions fan. For me to win the contest, well, being a Lions fan, we're not accustomed to winning, so I don't exactly know how to react. I do enjoy the contest and the web site. At the time of this writing, the Packers are 0-3 and probably Packer fans are writing off the season, but I thought the same thing at the start of last season and the Packers ended up winning the division again. I think the division is very wide open this year, so maybe even the Lions might have a shot, but I certainly wouldn't rule out a repeat by the Packers." - Jonathan MacGown, Saginaw, Michigan

"I'm from Fond du Lac, WI , (Grandmother of 13) and I've been a Packer fan forever!!! My husband and I attended the New Grand Opening festivities at Lambeau Field in 2003, family night in 2004, and were also able to get tickets for one pre-season game last year. My goal for this season is to get tickets so I can see Brett play a real game before he retires. I found your NFL Picks contest online while surfing the internet and have really have enjoyed the competition. This is the third year I've been a participant in the Picks Contest and it sure was a fun year with all the upsets. Picking winners against the spread was a totally new concept for me when I first started so I really feel like winning second place is sort of beginners luck. Thank you for the great site, I look forward to the 2005 season and Go Packers!!!!" - Karen Tedesco Fond du Lac, WI

Jerry McConnell (JerryM) –
First Place winner

"Hi, I'm Jerry McConnell of team "JerryM" in the PackerIQ NFL Game Picks Contest.
I have been a football fan for most of my life, starting back in the 1930's when the Washington Redskins with Quarterback Sammy Baugh were my team and idol. I also played the game while in high school.
The Green Bay Packers have always been one of my top teams, but the New England Patriots supplanted them and the Redskins when the old AFL was born back in the '60's.
My thanks go out to the creators and maintainers of the PackerIQ website and this great contest and all of my competitors during this past NFL season. I am blessed because not only did I win here, but my Patriots did as well."
- Jerry McConnell Hampton, NH
Mike Charles(BubVen) – Second Place Winner
($25.00 PackerIQ.com Store Gift Certificate)
"My name is Mike Charles (BubVen) and I took 2nd place in your NFL picks
contest. I have really enjoyed playing in this contest the last couple of
years. I've been a Packer fan since the mid 1960's. Being from Texas, most of my
family were Cowboy fans but it just so happened that the Cowboys were playing
the Packers and I chose the Packers as my team. Good luck to the Packers this
year!" - Mike Charles

Taken from “2001-2002 NFL Picks
Contest Winners” by Head Cheese:
“I have been a Packer
fan since 1962. I lived in Oconomowoc up to 1983. I use to go to County Stadium
on the third base side and enjoy many games. I moved Florida and always went
to the games in Tampa when the Packers played there. I moved to Biloxi five
years ago and found out I moved to Packer Country with fans supporting my
beloved Packers. I was in Heaven again. I can watch all the Packer games and
feel like I am back in Wisconsin. All Packer Fans should access your site
as it gives just wonderful information on the Packers. It is fun to answer
the Trivia quiz and learn more of the Packers. Lastly, it was great fun to
guess and out wit everyone in the Pro Pick Contest. Keep up the good work
and I look forward to next year." -Ron Grace

"Packeriq.com is the best site on the net!!
This is the second year I’ve been a participant in the Picks Contest and it’s really been a fun year with all the upsets…
right up to the Super Bowl. Congratulations to the Cheesehead who is Number 1 and I’m sure he(?) agrees that it was a battle to the very end between the two of us.
Maybe it will be a shock when he finds he’s been behind a 72-year-old female football Fanatic all year.
I’ve been a fan of the Pack since my son played high school football in Ohio .
Vince Lombardi was a prince of a fellow and around our household, since my son played Defensive end, we knew all the Numbers and names of the defensive players for the Packers,
and of course the winningest quarterback of all time, Bart Starr. He was the quarterback for the Packers when I first became such a fan.
Being a southern “girl” it didn’t hurt his reputation at all with me that he had first made headlines leading the Crimson Tide."
-Barbara Wade
More information on this 70 plus year old football fanatic can be found in
Head Cheese’s article “Redbaron meets Curly
Lambeau.”
