The Green Bay Packers will be facing an Arizona team looking for some revenge after the Packers ran up the score in the last meeting at Lambeau. The Packers needed to win that game by a certain amount to improve their playoff hopes, but it turned out it did not matter anyway. This game should turn out to be an interesting game for a few reasons; hopefully it won't be as close as last week. The Cardinals are a very banged up team at the moment which should help the Pack a great deal, but the Cardinals have a few players that could give Green Bay some problems.
The first thing to look for is the match up between our tackles and Simion Rice. Rice possesses blazing speed on the pass rush, which will be a tough task for the tackles to handle. Wiley of Buffalo and Douglas of Philly dominated the tackles with their speed and quickness. The young tackles will see speed at a new level in Simion Rice, watch this match up closely, it could mean a long day if they are not prepared. The second key match up is Frank Sanders and David Boston against the Packer cornerbacks. Sanders and Boston have good size and are off to a good start this year. They might not be Moss and Carter but they are a good test for the Pack. This will be the first time they will face a team with two good receivers this year. Last week, the defense did a great job of containing McNabb and they must have the same effort against Jake Plummer. Plummer has the ability to make big plays while he is running, so stay at home defense. This will be important not only for this game, but also games against the Vikings. With Culpepper, the Vikings have a quarterback who can run as well as most running backs. By stopping McNabb and Plummer it should give the defense some confidence when they face Culpepper later in the year.
I am expecting a good day from Levens being the Cardinals are undersized between the tackles and this will be his second game back. After my last article, I have a feeling Brett is going to make me eat my words. Arizona is not a good team defensively so there should be no excuses for the offense not to shine, except for Simion Rice. Coach Sherman has his hands full getting this team on track and I am pulling for him. I wish he would stop saying, " he will get this fixed", that is all we heard last year from Rhodes. This is the Green Bay Packers not your television or refrigerator. If they can't produce, get someone who can.
Just For Fun Trivia: What Cardinals running back did the Packers acquire in 1972 to help them win the central division that year?
