Hall Of Fame Cries Wolf

Born in 1965, I was too young to remember the legendary Lombardi years .
Those years had a profound impact on the modern day NFL. Every NFL fan knew names like Paul Hornung, Bart Starr, Fuzzy Thurston, Jim Taylor, Max McGee, and of course Vince Lombardi. The trophy given to the winner of the Super Bowl each year is still called the Lombardi Award. These legends were the idols I admired when I was a child growing up in Racine, Wisconsin. I remember going to the Local YMCA and meeting Bart Starr when he was still a player and getting his autograph picture. It would be hard for anyone to argue that one person had more impact the Vince Lombardi did on the players, fans, and NFL in the 1960s or any time frame in league history.

Being an avid football and biased Packer fan, I believe Ron Wolf is another one of those high impact personas. The Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame is honoring him this year on Friday July 28, 2000 in the 30th annual Packer Hall Of Fame induction ceremony.
Wolf is instrumental in the modern day success of the Packer organization. He brought
a 3rd string QB named Bret Favre to Green Bay- A player who would become a 3 time NFL MVP. He brought legendary NFL sack leader Reggie White to help bring a Super Bowl championship to TitleTown. He gave Mike Holgrem his first NFL head-coaching job. We all know his success in Green Bay and the respect Mike has earned around the league. Under Wolf, the Packers have seen their first 16 win season in 1996 in the 80 year history of the team, and the first four year double digit string of winning seasons (1995,1996,1997) since 1932. This goes on and on.

Thank you Ron Wolf from all the Packer fans around the league and football
fans everywhere.
