Hello once again Packer Fans!!! Sorry I haven't written lately but, my 8 year old PC finally had to be taken off life support and allowed to pass on with some dignity. I have written every "From The Cheaps Seats" articles on my old faithful Milwaukee PC desktop. But the years have finally taken its toll. Now I am back in business with my new Milwaukee PC desktop and can finally get back to what I love to do.
So without further ado, HOW ABOUT THEM PACKERS!!! NFC North Champions once again! This team has done so much more than most of us had expected considering how we all moaned about how Ted Thompson dropped the ball in the last off season. We didn't get Randy Moss or even Wes Welker for that matter. But, I will give credit where credit is due. I too was not very happy with Ted when he didn't seem to be doing anything to help Favre and the offense. But, he found enough talent in the draft and sent a 6th round draft pick to the Giants for Ryan Grant and lo and behold these things Thompson did are working out very well.
Now, I need to get something off my chest. I read a letter in the "Speak Out" section of last weeks's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Sports section from a fan that had relocated to North Carolina. He went on to say that he couldn't understand how Wisconsin Packer fans could be so down on the play calling ,personnel moves etc. when the team was in first place in their division. I have to admit what he said really hit home. So, to all of you who week after week keep whining about how the Packers should do this and dump this player and dump McCarthy and Thompson... SHUT UP! We have a championship caliber team! Remember the last 2 seasons? No? Let me refresh your memory. The Packers went a combined 12-20. No Division championships. No playoff games.NOTHING!!!
We got to watch the much hated Bears go to the Super Bowl.Thank God for Peyton Manning and his teammates because I couldn't have taken all those Bear fans gloating at Packer fans expense. My Friends you need to stop yapping about what could have been and enjoy this ride. Our team is going to the playoffs. And with Dallas losing today we still have a shot at the #1 seed if all goes right. And if we don't get it...WHO CARES!! We're in the playoffs. Ladies and Gentleman, children of all ages once again enjoy the ride.
Brett is coming to the end of his career sometime soon as much as we hate to admit that. And he is playing some of the best football of his life. Is this his year of destiny? I hope so. This year has exceeded all expectations and maybe we can capture that same magic that came around in 1996. Don't take this team for granted and rejoice in the fact that things could have been so much worse. If you don't believe me, just ask a Dolphins fan.
Until next time my friends remember to take care in this holiday season. Take a little extra time and get to where you have to go safely.I have seen so many accidents and near misses as I travel the roads that I worry about you all. So, drive safely, stay off the cell phones while driving and be courteous to your fellow motorists and shoppers. Remember, "Tis the season.
