Shut down,Shut out,& Shut Up Sharper!

Hello Again Packer fans!!  Earlier in the week former Packer Safety Darren Sharper told whoever who would listen that he was looking forward to getting a couple of picks off his ol' buddy Brett Favre. Hey Darrren, how's that egg on your face tasting ol' buddy! I shouldn't be too hard on Sharper, after all if he hadn't taken out his own guy, Ruvell Martin wouldn't have gotten his 2nd TD of the game. Thanks Darren!

To say that Green Bay dominated all facets of today's victory would be the understatement of this season.  They outplayed the Viqueens in every aspect of the game: passing,  scoring , sacks, interceptions and rushing yardage(the most important category). All everybody heard  about this week was how rookie RB sensation Adrian Peterson was going to run all over the Packer defense. Well, I don't call 45 yards on 11 carries a very good game offensive wise.

Defensively, it was as sweet as it could be for Green Bay. Except for a couple of long runs for about 10 yds each, Peterson was shut down cold. You could argue that if he wouldn't have gotten hurt late in the game he might have eventually ripped off a long gainer. I don't think so. The defense was like a Visa card, it was everywhere you want to be.

Even when they threatened to score Charles Woodson picked off the pass tipped by Melwede Moore and ended that threat. I'm so glad that a lot of teams thought Woodson was washed up last year and let him slip into the Packers hands. Along with Al Harris they have the best set of lock down corners in the game. Aaron Rouse played very well in place of the injured Nick Collins. Not once was he burned for the big play in the game. But with a quarterback like Brooks Bollinger behind a suspect offensive line it hardly seemed like a real threat all day.  I feel bad for Bollinger.  He had such a great career at Wisconsin and it's hard not to pull for him. But now, he wears the enemy colors. Sorry Brooks.

Now on to the offense. From the first drive to the final gun this was an awesome effort by this unit. Favre again went over 350 yds with 3 TDs to shove Minnesota further down in the standings. And how about our own first year running back Ryan Grant? 119 yds and a TD against a defense that hadn't had a back go for a 100 yards against them all season. A pat on the back to Ryan and all the guys upfront who made it all possible. The O-line really seems to be putting it all together. Openning rushing lanes and giving Favre more than enough time to burn the Minnesota secondary (especially Sharper).

Going into this season the Viqueens were ranked ahead of Green Bay in the pre-season predictions , picked to finish 2nd to Chicago. Just goes to show you that predictions don't win games. Players and coaches do. Who would have guessed that Mike McCarthy would be talked about as a "Coach of The Year" candidate this season? Or Favre as "Comeback Player of The Year"? Brad Childress came to Minnesota from Philadelphia with great credentials as an offensive coordinator that could turn things around. Maybe he's just one of those coaches like former Packer Head Coach Ray Rhodes. Great coordinator but lousy head coach. Well I think that' all for this week gang. Now it's on to next week with a showdown with Carolina. Hopefully, we can go into the Thanksgiving Day game with Detroit with a 9-1 record. Until next time Packer Fans, SEEEEEEE YAAAAA!!!!!!
