In what should have been a rout by the Pack, they end up losing 23-20 on a Paul Edinger field goal with 2 seconds on the clock in the dome. The Vikings were totally dominated in the first half with Favre going 16-19 for 202 yds and 2 TD's. Duante Culpepper was kept in check by what was a ferocious Green Bay 1st half defense.
In the 2nd half the defense looked non-exsistent. After building a 17-0 lead the Pack looked like it wasn't trying to win but rather not trying to lose. The loss of several key players including Ahman Green and Robert Ferguson probably had a lot to do with that. But when the 2nd half started you could tell that Minnesota came out with a vengence. They played with the same kind of heart that Green Bay did in the first.
Of course this would be a moot point if Longwell had made all of his FG attempts. My only guess is that he still isn't comfortable with B.J. Sander as his holder. People don't realize how important the chemistry is between the snapper, holder and kicker can be.
The road dosen't get any easier in the next 4 weeks and we could very well be looking at the first (dare I say it) losing season in 14 years. The only way to even try to get this team straightened out is for Ted Thompson to find some help out there in the free agent market to shore up a slowly sinking ship. Unfortunately, there may not be a lot to pick from.We all knew that the piper would have to be paid for all of the success over the last 14 years, but it still doesn't ease the pain.
