Once again the Pack snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with a 17-16 loss to Tampa Bay.With 2 uncharacteristic flubs from the special teams that , until this game, were the one bright spot. Rob Davis is one of the best long snappers in the game so his bad snap on the PAT was a bit of a shock. And then the shanked FG attempt by Longwell just floored me. Add in a new holder in B.J. Sander and the rest is history. But just as bad as that was, I was completely confused by the lack of intensity from WR Robert Ferguson. It just seemed that after his TD his hands got lazy. On more than one occasion Favre gave him a "What The... " look. 4 turnovers sure didn't help. Favre is pressing too much. In my opinion I think he feels that if he dosen't make something happen they have no chance. These are the times when I wish Brett would just walk into the locker room and let loose with fastball that would at least make on hell of a noise and tell this team to fire up. But isn't that the Head Coach's job? Mike Sherman had the nerve to call this latest defeat a "Moral Victory". Bull. A loss is a loss. No amount of low key, look for the silver lining , rah-rah crap is goimg to change that. It isn't enough just to make a NFL roster. You have to take pride in the job no matter how big or small your roll on the team is. Guys like Brett do. So did Guys like Starr, Nitschke, Davis, Taylor, And Hornung. If you are fortunate enough to put on the Green And Gold, how can you not have a sense of what this storied franchise is about. How can you just be satisfied with cashing your check? Someway, somehow, Sherman has got to get everyone around him focused. He can't fall back on the old " I have too much on my plate" excuse now that he is no longer GM.
Now on to another problem. The officiating. My God they were awful! The blown fumble call. The ticky tack roughing call on Kampmann. And it wasn't just going against the Pack. Tampa got screwed just as badly. These guys are supposed to be professional officials. Time they took their jobs a bit more seriously. Yes, I know they also work full time jobs during the week, but this is a good paying high profile job that demands attention to detail. Well gang. I'm just too depressed and disgusted to go on so hopefully next week will be a REAL victory against a very tough Carolina team. Until next week......................... SEEEEEEEE YAAAAAA!!!!!
