3/04/2004 – The Mouth gets traded to Baltimore.
Terrell Owens goes to Baltimore for a second round draft pick in 2004. This is an attempt by the Ravens to give add fire to the Raven’s weak passing game and help their young quarterback develop. It remains to be seen if this is a good move for the Ravens and whether Owens will put his money where his mouth is. The good news is that Ray Lewis is a member of that team and his leadership will probably help keep Terrell’s attitude in check. Lewis is the leader on the field for the Ravens and Owens will have to adjust. Lewis also played a role in helping Owens come to Baltimore by encouraging him at this year’s Pro Bowl.
3/04/2004 – Clinton Portis to Washington for Champ Bailey.
Denver’s star running back Clinton Portis heads to Washington to fill the void one held by Stephen Davis. Champ Bailey gives the Denver defense a shutdown cornerback for the first time in years. Denver is known for turning out top notch runners in recent years and this looks like Denver might have received the better end of this deal. Washington also jumped on cornerback Shawn Springs from Seattle to fill the Bailey void. Joe Gibbs and Daniel Snyder are betting that that the arm of the recently acquired veteran Mark Brunell and the feet of Clinton Portis will lead them to the playoffs . It was evident that Bailey was fed up with the Snyder’s efforts to buy a championship for the Redskins and the lack of the success in Washington over the “Snyder” years.
3/04/2004 – Grant Wistrom gets the money in Seattle
In an effort in improving the Seahawk pass rushing , Seattle signed Grant Wistrom. The St . Louis Rams did not offer the $30 million dollar deal Grant was looking for. Wistrom was Seattle’s second choice behind Javon Kearse who went to Philadelphia.
3/04/2004 Over rated Keyshawn Johnson heading to the Cowboys to re-join Parsells
It looks like this trade is not for Joey Galloway but a draft choice instead. I still do not get this one. Another non-team player gets the big bucks. I do not see Johnson as the high end receiver that he thinks he is. Hopefully Bill will keep him in line.
3/02/2004 Gilbert Brown cut by the Packers.
I understand this move by the Packerseven though Brown has always been one of my favorite Packers. I will miss Brown. Maybe Sherman can do something with the unproductive and always hurt free agent flop Joe Johnson. Johnson is surely not helping the Packer salary cap.
