Playing with a broken heart and thumb, Brett Favre provided a performance that rivals any in his past. He played in his 205 consecutive games including the playoff game which is the NFL record among quarterbacks. He threw 2 TD passes in the first quarter to pass former NFC central great Fran Tarkenton and moved into second place beyond Dan Marino for the NFL record of touchdown passes by a quarterback. Brett Favre went 22 of 30 for 399 yards 4 TDs and no interceptions. He passed for 311 of those yards in the first half with 3 TDs. The Packers receivers beat Oakland’s Phillip Buchanon for three of the first half scores. The Raiders benched Buchanon for the second half. This was the Raiders worst loss in eight years. He was definitely in playing in the same form that won him three league MVPs in the mid 90s.

With his wife on the field by his side after the game, Favre said he knew his father was looking down on him tonight. Irvin Favre coached Brett in baseball and football in High School. After the game when asked why he decided to play tonight, he answered that he loved his father and football and both have been good to the Farve family. His father would have wanted to him play tonight.

The Packers played inspired tonight in all aspects of the game as if this game was dedicated the Farve family. With the exception of one sack, the offense line allowed Favre to do his magic. Twelve different receivers were on the other end of Favre passes led by Javon Walker(4 catches 124 yards 2 TDs), Robert Ferguson( 3 catches 85 yds) and Donald Driver(3 catches 78 yards). In addition to the pashing game, Ahman Green added 127 yards in 24 attempts with 1 TD.

On the defensive side of the ball, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamilla led with the team with 3 sacks. Micheal Hawthorne filling in for injured Mike McKenzie had two interceptions.

According to Packers.com, the Favre family appreciates the support and prayers. For those fans that interested, the Favre family would prefer that memorial contributions instead of flowers in the name of Irvin Favre:
