Pack tightening up at tight end

With just 5 weeks before the start of the regular season the Packers have signed 14 year veteran tight end Wesley Walls . The former Carolina Panther signs on for the 1 year veteran's minimum of $755,000 with a $25,000 bonus. In his games with Carolina vs. The Pack ,Walls had the uncanny knack of getting open enough for QB Steve Beurlein to keep the drive alive in 2 decisive victories. The addition of Walls gives the team a very viable back-up to All-Pro Bubba Franks as well as another very lethal weapon in 2 tight end sets. At age 37 Walls is not going to burn you with speed or overpower you. He is just going to outsmart you. Let's face it gang, this was a "must have" signing. The other options would have been shaky at best. 3rd year pro David Martin has the tools but just can't seem to stay healthy. Veteran Tyrone Davis basically ate himself out of a job. I have a question for you Ty,"How come when you know the coaching staff wasn't happy last season with your conditioning (or lack thereof) did you show up to camp as bad if not worse this year?" If you need a recent example just go ask Gilbert Brown. I'm sure he will be the first one to tell you it is no fun being on the outside looking in. Now that Walls is in the fold can you imagine how Brett Favre is feeling about now. He hasn't had this kind of talent at tight end since the days of Keith Jackson and Mark Chumura. And we all know what happened that time. Well time to kick back and watch the Pack take on the Chiefs. til next time gang, SEE YA !!!!!!!
