Hello Packer fans!! Hope you are surviving the off season and having a great summer. Hang in there gang, training camp is almost upon us.Now on to today's topic, Naming rights to Lambeau Field.It appears that the city and county officials up in Green Bay are pushing the organization to get someone to pony up some serious coin to put their name on our beloved home of the Green and Gold.They are whining and crying about the half cent sales tax that has been in place to cover the area's cost of the Lambeau renovation.Now wait just one frozen tundra minute!! Wasn't it agreed that this was the way to do this? Wasn't that why the Packers put up a number of new seats just for Brown County residents so they could have a chance to win season tickets in a special "Brown County Residents only" Lottery? I'm not talking a couple of dozen or a couple of hundred seats, I'm talking about a few THOUSAND seats!! I'm sorry but I just don't have any sympathy for them at all. When we got the same sales tax jammed down our taxpaying throats here in the 5 county area of southeastern Wisconsin for Miller Park for the Brewers, we didn't even get a say in the matter. The people of Brown County at least had a say in the matter. Face it, YOU VOTED FOR IT!!Why all of a sudden is everyone up there getting their undies in a bundle? Do we really want to see a different name on Lambeau Field? How's this for an example: " Live From Depends Field, the Green Bay Packers vs. the Chicago Bears"( who are incidently brought to you by Bank One). I know no one wants to pay higher taxes, I'm a property owner myself and I can feel your pain. But ever since the late 50's or early 60's the Packers have always played at "Lambeau Field". To name it anything else would be a travesty. The one arguement I have heard is " well your not paying for it of course you don't care".Well no one cared that 5 counties had to foot the bill for the entire state so that then owner Bud Selig could have his new stadium. People of Brown County a half cent sales tax savings isn't going to make you that much richer.Please tell your elected officials to put a stop to this bickering and let's get ready to enjoy our Packers as we've always had, "Live From Lambeau Field "!!
