Packers control own destiny/A Class Act

In what can surely be considered a mild upset the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-7 on Monday Night Football in Tampa. This means that with a win Sunday against the Jets at the Meadowlands the Packers would be no worse that the #2 seed in the play-offs giving them a first round bye. The best scenario would be to couple a victory over New York with an Eagles loss to the Giant who are fighting for a wild card spot, that would give Green Bay the #1 seed. But let's not forget that the Jets are also fighting for a play-off berth and will be bringing everything they got at Favre and Co. This has got to be the most exciting and intense last weekend to the regular season in quite awhile. Just trying to imagine all the possible implications of every game is mind boggling.I can hardly wait! As for the Tampa game itself it was awesome to see Pittsburgh just march right down Warren Sapp's throat and score in only 2:59. Then to see Shaun King get picked off and have it returned for a touchdown on the very next drive just blew me away. The fact that the Steeler defense did not allow Tampa to score until under 2:00 to play gave me an unusually warm feeeling. The sad part is that Sapp was up to his old tricks again. He came out during pre-game warm ups and ran through the Steelers as they were stretching which according to John Madden is a blatant sign of disrespect . Then he rolled up on the back of Steeler qb Tommy Maddox's ankle well after the pass was thrown trying to knock him out of the game. I can't for the life of me see why the NFL hasn't come down and come down hard on Sapp for his antics.

Now on to the second part of this article. During the weekend of the Bears game at Lambeau, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamilla had gone from the joy of the birth of his newborn daughter to the tragic sadness of losing his mother in an auto accident in California that Sunday. When news reached the team, Brett Favre and a group of players pitched in and chartered a private jet to get Kabeer and his family to L.A. and back so that he wouldn't have to put up with the long wait for security checks at the commercial airlines. In this ego driven business of Professional Sports it is good to know that those egos can be put aside when a teammate is hurting . To pull together to make his burden a little easier to bear.It gives one hope.

That's all for now Packer fans except to say that from my lovely wife Carol and I "Happy Holidays ".
