A Tale Of Two Halves

With trying to keep up with the Bucs and the Eagles the Packers had their work cut out for them in their re-match with the Vikings. At first it seemed like another upset was in the making as the Vikes jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the first half. The offense had it's share of problems. Favre lost the ball on his 2nd possesion which set up the Vikes first td to take a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. Then a tipped ball off Javon Walker led to a Greg Biekert interception that led to another field goal by Gary Anderson to put Minnesota up 13-0. Fortunately the Pack got 2 field goals from Ryan Longwell to bring the Pack back to 13-6 at the half.In the 2nd half the Vikes put up another 9 points due in part to the running of Michael Bennett and the inabilty of the defense to tackle him.But it was also in the second half that Favre came alive and hit Robert Ferguson with 2 tds of 22 and 41 yards respectively. Then after the defense held, Favre used that old 4th quarter magic and drove 85 yds for the go ahead td that was highlighted by a few really great efforts. One was a pass interfernce call on Cory Chavous against Donald Driver. I call that one of the great efforts because if Chavous dosen't make that play it could have been disasterous because the would have been intercepted and the drive and the game ends right then and there. On 3rd and 8 with under 2:00 miutes to play Favre takes off and gets the first down at the Minnesota 15. Then the 15 yd td run by Tony Fisher capped off an incredible comeback drive that only a true warrior like Favre can make happen. Speaking of Favre, did you see how mad he got at the coaching staff after the runnig play by Fisher was stopped for a 3 yd loss just before the 2 minute warning? It was sure nice to see the fire in his eyes because you knew right then and there that nothing was going to stop Brett from trying to win this game. The game ended with a pick by Darren Sharper with :01 on the clock and he tried to run it back. That's when all hell broke loose on the Viking sideline when Jim Kleinsausser took a cheap shot on Marques Anderson which started a brawl at the end of the game mainly because Kleinsausser came off the sideline to do it. Talk about your cheap shot!! Well when the league office reviews the tape I doubt that shot will be anything but cheap.Well gang now are Packers are off to Frisco to face the 49ers. The Niners are tough but hopefully the Pack will have their number as they always seem to lately. Until next week fans, try and stay warm because it is cold In the Cheap seats!!
