Da Bears, Tampa, and a true Packer backer

Hey Gang!! Sorry it took a while to write but things have been a little crazy here lately. Now first up is the Tampa game. To say that Brett Favre had a bad day is the understatement of the season. He gets in a weird mindset when he plays in a stadium that has not been kind to him.It happens in the Metrodome and also now in Raymond James Stadium. The defense played as well as could be expected considering that they played on their side of the 50 yd line almost all day.Add in the ineffectiveness of Ahman Green and you could see why this game ended the way it did. As for the Warren Sapp incident let's just say it was ugly. On the play that he leveled Clifton technically he did nothing wrong. His hit according to NFL rules was legal. My question is " was it really neccessary?" Clifton was no where near the play to be considered a serious threat. In fact he wasn't even running at the time, just kind of jogging. For Sapp to make that kind of hit was uncalled for. People around the league say Sapp is not a dirty player. Well if he's not a dirty player, why did he launch himself at Clifton? HE LEFT HIS FEET!!! As other well known analysts have stated it may have been a legal hit, but Sapp will get his due.Or worse, his teammates might have to pay the price. I wonder what Ol' Warren will have to say when someone takes HIM out on a "legal hit"?

Now on to Da Bears. The way the game started out you had to wonder if the wheels were falling off the Packer Play-off express. But luckily the team came out in the second half and looked like the team that had run off 7 wins in a row.The defense really shut the A-Train down and except for the tipped td pass to Booker played solid. Favre went to work picking the Bears D apart and salted this one away by the end of the 3rd quarter.I think alot of players took a long look in the mirror during halftime and decided it was time to suck it up and play.No one was going to lay down and play dead. If this team can put it all together for this Sunday's rematch with the Vikings, it will be a long cold depressing night on the visitor's sideline. I was just wondering if I can tell the differnce between Randy Moss being frozen solid or if he's just dogging it.(we wouldn't want poor Randy to catch a cold would we?)

Now it is time for my 3rd and final subject: the true Packer Fan. In a column written by my colleague Bill Gallagher a fan wrote him to say he wasn't going to a christening with his girlfriend or any other function because he would miss the Game. as a matter of fact he said there is nothing outside of his own death that would make him miss a Packer game. Well let's put this in perspective shall we. #1. I could see missing a christening because let's face it gang, most of the women will be in one room oooohing and aaahind over the baby and the gifts while in the other room the guys are watching ...you guessed it THE PACKER GAME!! My advice to this guy's girlfriend is to dump this clown and find someone who loves you at least as much as he loves football. I say this because what if they get married and she gets pregnant and goes into labor on GAMEDAY?? Is she going to be told that if she can't wait to have the little bundle of joy until the game is over than she better call around for a ride? Fans I love the Pack as much as anyone of you does but even I have to keep things in perspective. Unless I win tickets to the Buffalo game there is a good chance I will have to miss the game on tv because a good friend of ours is graduating from college that day. My lovely wife Carol told me that if I won those tickets that she would understand if I went because she knows how hard they are to come by and that ticket brokers like Front Row and Ticket King charge a small fortune for the tickets they buy up.So gang remember, you have to make compromises. Sometimes , no matter how painful, we have to miss a game or two for the ones we love. Til next time fans SEE YA!!!
