Our beloved Packers fell to a up-and-coming New Orleans team headed by ex- Packer backup QB Aaron Brooks. There is much discussion on how good the Saints offense has done this year. The key to this team has really been the Saints defense. Brett Favre (29-of-44 for 270 yds and 2 TDs) actually performed a little better than Brooks(16-of-28 for 217 yds and 2 TDs) in the yardage department. At the half, the Packers pulled within 11 with a Terry Glenn 14 TD reception after a Mike McKenzie interception. Glenn gave the points back to the Saints with a fumble by Glenn that Keyou Craver returned it 38 yards to make it 28-10 just over a minute into the 3rd period. The Packers need to hang on to the ball. The Packers are still having problems on against the run. Deuce McAllister rushed for 123 yards with 2 touchdowns. On a positive note, Ahman Green rushed for 81 yds on 17 attempts to keep his NFC Rushing yards lead at 236. This is 4 yards in front of McAllister and he is on his tail. To be honest, I am not very pleased with the performance of the Packers. They are definitely not playing up to their potential.
On a side note, I am very pleased that the St. Louis Rams are 0-2. Looks like other teams are figuring out their high-powered offense. The New England Patriots so far seem to be the most impressive team on both sides of the ball. I currently live in Raleigh, NC and the talk around here is the success of the Carolina Panthers. They have already improved their record from last year. I think we will see more wins from them this year but I am not sure that Rodney Peete will lead them to the playoffs.
