Coming off two divisional wins against Chicago and Tampa Bay, a letdown against Atlanta is not allowed. With a victory against the Falcons, the Packers will remain in first place going into the Thanksgiving Day showdown in Motown. Even though the Packers should have little trouble with Atlanta, on any given Sunday, anything could happen. Detroit the following week could be a scary one, the Silverdome, and the Lions on Thanksgiving Day. This week with Chris Chandler hurting, and two inexperienced quarterbacks on the roster, I can’t see the Falcons presenting much of a threat. Except for over confidence on the Packers behalf, which is very possible. We will find out if the Packers are true contenders in the next two weeks. Championship teams beat the teams they should beat and the Packers should beat the Falcons and Lions. In years past, the championship teams build a head of steam around Thanksgiving and carry it into January. You want to have your team starting to peak at the end of November, not the beginning of October. A perfect example is what the Giants and Ravens did at this time last year, they got hot and carried it to the Super Bowl. I really believe with the return of Allen Rossum on special teams, the Packers should be in the Championship Game, hopefully at Lambeau Field. I actually think that if they had to go into St. Louis it would be tough, but not impossible! I also believe the Rams don’t like to be hit and they can be beat.
I have been really impressed by this offensive line for the Packers; except for some penalties they seem to dominate every week. Brett Favre seemed also to get his act together with two great throws for touchdowns against the Bears. It always seems Brett takes a mental vacation once in awhile, but he is the last player I would worry about. Hopefully the kick coverage will improve soon, you can’t give good teams the ball at their own 35 yard-line and expect them to just go three and out. The Pack are looking good lately, even Freeman has gotten involved! I am sure we all have certain players on the team that we follow closely. In my case, it’s William Henderson. The man can block like a guard and has soft hands; he is a true weapon for the Packers! Well until next week, enjoy the game and stay safe!
