I can’t believe how this week turned.. As I looked ahead on Sunday for the week to come it was to be one of the most exciting and fun filled weeks of the year. I was coming off the high of a great Packer win. HBO’s “Band of Brothers” was starting that night. I had golf on Tuesday, softball on Thursday, Jimmy Buffett of Saturday, and I felt that the Packers were going to head to the Meadowlands and kick some NY tail. On top of that I am waiting anxiously to be an uncle for the first time as the newest Packer fan is brought into this world.

Well all that changed at about 8:00 AM on Tuesday morning. The emotions of the day ranged from shock to anger to compassion for the victims and their families. Well my whole week was sent into turmoil. I arrived at the golf course to find that they had cancelled the league. I returned home to find that the roofers had moved my dish and I no longer have a signal, which means no NFL Sunday Ticket. Today I learned that Jimmy Buffet had postponed the concert and now maybe no football this Sunday.

The above all seems trivial with the events of this week. Anybody that has been directly affected by this cowardly act would gladly take my week of inconveniences to have their loved ones back. For many of them the agony is not over. There is no closure as they wait for the final word and hold out hope that their loved ones will be found alive.

My initial instinct was to say it is time to move on and have football on Sunday. I am not so sure that is a good idea. Maybe this weekend should be spent with our families and not in front of the TV. I hope to spend the weekend with my family as we welcome a new baby into our family.

May God bless all of you and remember to give your loved ones an extra hug.
