Lucky catch saves Sherman

Antonio Freeman’s juggling catch in overtime gave the Packers a 26-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. On a third down desperation throw by Favre, Freeman finally made a big play. It was more of a good bounce than a great catch, but it is a win. Freeman and Schroeder came through with third down catches on that last drive. But in reality, down the stretch they both dropped passes that they should have caught. It took a good bounce and Viking turnovers to give the Packers their forth victory of the season. With just under two minutes and two timeouts left, Sherman showed no guts or confidence in Favre, by calling back-to-back running plays. The Pack had the ball on their own 20-yard line when Sherman proved to a national audience he does not know what he is doing on the sidelines. His blunder gave the Vikes good field position to win the game at the end of the forth quarter. Then the Vikings botched a game winning field goal attempt to send the game into overtime.

If you read my last article, the same things apply for this article. Poor tackling, dropped passes and terrible officiating were abundant on Monday night. Tyrone Davis drops a pass, and then Green decides to drop the next two passes. It is said that winning is contagious, well so are missed tackles and dropped passes. The officiating in the league is as bad as the talent in the league. How could officials miss a player being kicked, and a player being dragged into the benches? Why is a man that is close to seventy years old, with white hair, a referee in the N.F.L.? How can they make decisions on N.F.L.games? This is pro football they are ruining, not an insurance company! I did think that the young tackles did another good job with their pass protection. Henderson had a solid game and helped pave the way on Green’s rushing touchdown with a good block. Nate Wayne filled in nicely, and Sharper showed good hands by getting the ball at its highest peak. Nice going guys! I thought this was Favre’s best game yet, most of his passes were placed where only his receiver could get it. The only problem is they still can’t catch! His underhand pass to Green was just flat out awesome. Favre’s hard counts and audibles helped keep Randle and Co. off balance all night.

Unless they start tackling better and catching passes, Freeman’s catch will only be a highlight. We will see if they build off this win or go down the drain in Tampa Bay. Last night it was so obvious how much Levens means to this team. Even though Ahman ran very hard, his cut backs and hands are not on Dorsey’s level. Did you notice how many passes Schroeder almost caught on Monday? In all fairness to Bill, he did catch an important third down pass in overtime, but that is just one out of how many? What happened to Charles Lee? He can’t do any worse than the starting receivers. Enjoy the victory Packer Backers and lets hope Dorsey gets better fast.
