With Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins the Packers will not be playing in January this year. In the loss to Miami, Ron Wolf received a first hand view of what the Packers are lacking. They are not a fundamentally sound team, nor do they have any receivers with play making ability. This was a game filled with bad tackling and erratic officiating. Some of the calls could have gone either way, but the worst call of the day was an interference call against Mike McKenzie deep in Green Bay territory. The officials turned an incompletion and a field goal attempt into a first down for the Dolphins. The Dolphins took advantage of the call to add seven points and never looked back after that. The Packers had their chances but drops by Green and a huge drop by Schroeder put the Packers in desperation. On the last drive of the game, Favre threw an interception that Schroeder should have made a big play on. Schroeder was covered, but the defensive back had his back to the ball and Schroeder was facing Favre. Schroeder has got to make that catch in that situation, no excuses.

It seems we always hear Schroeder almost made that catch, or the officials should have given him that catch. Enough already, At best he is a number three receiver. Good receivers make big plays in big situations. (Ex: Wayne Chrebet) It is said that a team is a reflection of their coach, well believe it Packer Backers. Sherman does not work the officials at all and looks lost on the sidelines, end of story! I can’t believe players actually get drafted and are so poor with the fundamentals of the game. Someone should show our defensive backs film of Ronnie Lott. I do have a news flash for Mike Sherman. Freeman, Schroeder, and Bidwell should hit the bricks. Can Bidwell consistently punt a football 45 yards or better? Can our two receivers beat bump and run coverage? The answer is simple, not on their best day.

On a positive side, the rookie tackles looked really good against tough opposition. They seem to get better with each start, which is vital for the Packers. Now is the time to let Driver, Lee, and Bradford play to get experience. The Packers have holes to fill in the draft, starting with that creator at middle linebacker. Let the young guys play and see what kind of players they become and work from there. Wolf has to just accept paying Freeman that money was a mistake and move on. It is a good thing Freeman has that kind of money; bail and bars can be expensive. Before he signed that contract, Freeman stated he got all of his advise from Andre Rison. It is apparent Rison gave him advise on how to get arrested also. (Classy guy that Andre Rison)
