Well my new pregame ritual works. Golf in Milwaukee on the Saturday before the game followed by dinner at Brett Farve's restaurant in downtown Milwaukee Saturday night. An early morning trip to Green Bay to get set up for the tailgate party. To say it was big party was kind of an understatement, I guess we all get a little older and if any readers saw me feeding the newest member of our tailgate crew with a bottle at 2:00 pm, I would be be laughed out of the parking lot. This Just shows the "Intense Ones" sensitive side. Kudos go out to John "Jack" DeRoche Jr. and his performance at his first Packer Game, 6 months old with many more games to follow.
Now on to the game. This was a tough one to watch. We were located in the North endzone, which is where the Packers stopped the Vikings before getting a unsportsman like conduct penalty for some pushing and shoving. One play later touchdown. The refs really controlled the tempo of the game during the first half. Later in the first half the pack had stopped the Vikings deep in their own territoy but an illegal motion penalty game them another shot at a first down. The next play was the interception return by Antuan Edwards the man drafted to shut down Mr. Moss. So I guess the refs helped us on that one. McKenzie, Vinson and Edwards really helped to shut him down. It was nice to see the defence finally play with some emotion. Drafting three corners in the first three rounds to combat Moss and the Vikes worked. Two catches, thirteen yards and a TD. This is tough personally because Moss is one of my fantasy football guys. I isolated on Moss for most of the game and both corners did a great job stopping him. They did give up a big play to Jake Reed late in the forth but they were not burned any other time.
Farve had another amazing drive to win the game. He did not even call a play on the fourth down play, He said they were all professionals and would know what to do. It was nice to see that he was two tired to cry.
Next up a bye week followed by Tampa Bay. Another tough defensive team that will be another challenge for the Pack.
A lot of Viking fans made the trip to Green Bay including a group that just came to tailgate and did not have tickets. They set up a TV in the parking lot to watch the game. Needless to say they were no where to be found after the game. I guess all teams have fair weather fans.
